Moldova Business Week 2016 Overview

FSEA attended “Moldova Business Week 2016” in the period of 4-7 October 2016 which was organized in Chisinau by the Ministry of Economy and MIEPO.

Among of the activities of the agenda were conferences, roundtables, trainings, business forum, launching of new programs and others. The main goal was to offer a platform where business environment can meet the government authorities and have open dialogs in order to create an attractive and stable business environment, increasing the local and foreign direct investments, creating new jobs, and improving the competitiveness of domestic companies.

The participants of the activities were government officials, local and foreign investors, business associations, and international organizations.

Government officials presented their accomplishments and future plans for the following areas:

  1. Controls Reform:
  • moratorium on controls
  • approvement of the Law of state controls
  • switching the controlling system, from unannounced controls to planned controls with 1 year in advance
  • consolidation of controls: in a few days controlling more spheres of company’s activity
  • creating the register of state controls – all the controls will be registered there and announce the economic agent with 1 year in advance
  1. Institutional reform: reducing the number of Controlling Institutions from 34 to 18, in 6 months from now.
  1. Create an Unified Reporting system which should combine the reports from National Insurance, Tax Service, Medical Insurance in one report.
  2. Reform of permissive acts, reducing the number of permissive documents with 114 from 416. The objective by the end of the year is to have 200 permissive documents in total.

“Moldova Business Week 2016” was aimed to promote the country’s image, present government accomplishments and future plans, share experience, present new opportunities in order to attract foreign and local investments in order to stimulate the local economy.
